The Terraces....

The glass walled circular building houses a central bar with tables and chairs lining the perimeter and a few sofas thrown in there for good measure. Located at a great spot by the sea, there is a superb view of the Brighton coast line. For a Sunday afternoon, the ambience was spot on with well selected chill out tunes playing at exactly the right volume as the sun swept in. Should you care for some exposure to the sea breeze while you eat or drink, a balcony surrounds the building with chairs and tables. There is only one aspect that is of questionable quality: the service. Whether you're going for drinks or a meal, you are served by a waitress at a table. We had been waiting at least 5 minutes before being served followed by a further wait for the drinks to arrive. A simple pay and collect at the bar system would be far more efficient. On the whole, definitely worth a visit. If I was a Brighton resident I would be a regular at this place.

Volks.

The less time I think about the short time I spent at this club the better.
Having paid a seven pound entrance fee, we stepped in to a small sized bar with a band playing in the same room. Aside from the fact that the lead singer was wearing nothing but a thong and some foot wear, I was unable to decipher exactly what the band was playing, all I remember is noise, bad noise. We swiftly moved on to the downstairs bar and dance room. Although this was an improvement, it by no means made up for the poor impression made upstairs. Two or three djs were playing a mixture of break beat, house and a little RnB, switching to a different dj every two or three tunes. Although I enjoyed some of the break beat and the two RnB songs, the mix of genres didn't work well in one room. To top it all off, the smell (downstairs
especially) was not pleasant which I think leads on to the type of crowd in there. Several sweaty men in dresses, a few ladies. It would be too painful to elaborate.
